I just realized that Vuescan won't allow me to scan without watermark until I get a serial. I also just realized that, though I have the money for said registering of Vuescan, I can't do it because they don't take Paypal payment. Is there *anything* else that I could use to get this up and running today? The Minolta software isn't seeming to actually register that I have the scanner hooked up. :(

I think you're pretty much out in the cold on this one. You get the watermark until you register it. Why exactly don't you have a CC, by the way?

Never found I needed one.

Blah. Maybe I'll email tech support and see if there's anything they can do for me. I'm at a loss here.

Or not, since they don't have email tech support.

Stephanie,

If Minolta software does not find your scanner (i assume it is a SCSI version) you need to shut down your computer, turn the scanner on and then turn your computer on.

Hope that helps.

VueScan actually has pretty awesome support, but it's provided by the same guy (Mr. Hamrick) who codes the software. As you can imagine, he's a somewhat busy guy, so sometimes it takes a while to hear back from him.

Tell me about your environment and what problem you're having, and I'll see if I can suggest anything. Did your scanner come with the Minolta Photoshop plug-in? If not, did you see if it's still downloadable from the Konica Minolta website? (I vaguely recollect that there's some kind of kext that's needed to have the plug-in communicate with the USB port.)

Hehe...problem solved. Someone is nice enough to get it for me in exchange for something I'm sending him. :) YAY! Back to scanning.

Well, considering how many times you've mentioned it here on RFF, it seems like you've run into a lot of reasons why you'd need a CC.

I'm glad you found someone to buy you a copy. Vuescan is great, and it's worth it to support Ed.

Could have something to do with this:

I just got a lovely little letter from a collection company in the mail today. I had been paying my credit card bill slowly (and very, very small amounts) while I was off work and sometimes I couldn't make it, so I was kind of expecting it...I just wish it wouldn't have happened now. I have a line on two different jobs and such now so I should be able to pay the darn thing, but I'd like to get it resolved.

So yeah, I'm selling prints. If you see anything here that catches your eye, feel free to email/pm me about it. When I get my first paycheck from whichever of these jobs I take, I'll be not only giving to the Katrina/Rita relief effort, but I'll have more photos to share. Heh.

And by the way...I know some of them suck. Most were taken with my Nikon before I sold it. :)

Oh, and by the way...I'm working on a gallery at the moment, but it won't be done for a bit. Sorry about how the photos are presented.

1. Try a different USB port.
2. Check the Minolta site and see if there's a more recent version of the software.
