One of the most interesting things about (good) 'street' photography is that it captures a moment of intersection between human beings and their environment. It is often a comment on the nature of the interaction and the way it shapes the identity of both. But photography itself is, of course, just one more way to interact with our environment, to stand in relation to it. In a poignant moment of reflexivity, of self-critique even, here a thread devoted to photography of photography in the act. Post your photos of happy snappers or conscientious pros at work. To get us started, a couple from a recent trip to Istanbul.

Excuse the crappy picture, I had my Bessa quick on the draw to be faster than this girl. I think she was struggling with her AF trying to catch me and my dog. I was quicker

a few. in the last one she's photographing some macro shots. naturally the context of that one is more important than seeing the camera i thought

The best camera is one that still works!
Recently while photograhing some computer engineering students a photog and journo from a media mag turned up to take some shots of the students for the publication they worked for. She was there half an hour and shot 400 frames and admitted to us that only one was to be used!
To her credit I saw the shot that was publishd and it was excellent ... I was also impressed that she chose to use the light from the window and no fill flash!
I was there most of the day and used two rolls of film!
