Recently I came across this tintype at a local Sydney charity store. Unfortunately no clues about photographer, subject, date or location, though I understand tintypes were popular between 1856 - c.1867.
Feel welcome to add any vintage photographs you may have to this thread. Include any known details if you have them.
Apart from Shorpy.com, one of the most interesting sources of vintage photographs I've seen is Trevor Hauxwell Harland's collection on Flickr (an ongoing project).

My GGrandfather served in the 29th Indiana Vol Infantry during the American Civil War. These are soldiers of that Regiment at Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, after the Battles of Chattanooga. He was 19 when he enlisted. This photograph is in a collection of his mementos.

Carte de Visite of my Great Grandfather who served in the 29th Indiana Vol Infantry during the American Civil War. He enlisted as a Private, mustered out as Quarter-Master Sergeant in 1865. Photo was probably taken when he enlisted in 1861, with his rank written in later.

Maybe mine are not vintage. This is my uncle who died two weeks ago at 94. This was taken by my father in 1939:

From a box of 4x5 glass plate negatives we found in our parent's basement. All were taken about 1915, probably by my dad's great uncle. All in the Detroit. Michigan area.

I looked up "vintage" and this shot of my mom, who recently passed away, seemed eligible.

Apparently, vintage is over 25 years old, and antique over 100, or something like that.

My favourites are in the old Kodak "How to... " manuals and books.
And the colour pictures from the turn of the previous century when they were using the three filters system.

I found the negative of this picture of Churchill and his daughter among my wife's family photos. I wrote up what I found out about the origin of the picture in a post at photo.net fourteen years ago.
