Hello,

I just did some minor repairs on my new Canon QL17 GIII and it is working alright, but I've decided to do a full CLA myself and I'd like to replace some of the parts which are starting to go.

Specifically, I am looking for a "winding prawl". It is part number 19-0538-030 in the repair manual (viewable here, page 7: http://www.pentax-manuals.com/manuals/service/canonet_giii.pdf).

I repaired the winding prawl in my Canon GIII (had to reshape the spring and bend the little arm that bites into the gear below it) so that the film spool winds the film, but I think it's only a matter of time until it breaks again.

Does anyone have a Canon GIII which is broken but still good for parts?

Cheers,
filmtime

I just realized that the Canonet 28 probably has the same winding prawl part as the QL17, so I would also be interested in a Canonet 28 for spare parts.

If anyone can confirm that the Canonet 28 and the QL17 GIII have the same parts in the bottom for winding the film spool, I would appreciate it. I can't seem to find a Canonet 28 repair manual online.

Thank you.

I was able to locate a Canonet 28 locally today, and many of the parts are indeed interchangeable. The winding prawl was the exact same (and the rest of the film winding train appears to be as well).

I've successfully repaired my QL17 and it is functioning correctly now in all aspects.
