Hello there, I am new in RFF. I wonder to know why so many people like Fed 2?
Was the Fed 2 special? BTW, I have Fed 5B, Zorki4&4K, and I like them.

In comparison with other FSU rangefinders Fed 2, Zorki 6 and Kievs have longer rangefinder base. It helps to focus more accurate especially with tele lens. I like my fed2 very much and calibrated its rf to use with J-11.

All the FSU rangefinders have distinct personalities. The FED 2 is a robust and effective design which addresses some of the drawbacks of the FED 1 without loosing much of that camera's sheer charm. It fits nicely in the hand and is simply good to use: it works and works well. Bad points? The finder is often pretty dim.

Easy to use, fits in the palm of my hand, no complaints!

Thank you very much guys. I now know the reason why Fed 2 is faviorable. Maybe someday I will get one to play it myself.

The FED2 can have a very dim viewfinder.

The FED-2 has its drawbacks (dim VF, tough film winder, etc.) but it sure does look nice, especially with a collapsible 50 on it. Even my wife likes the look of it and wants me to display it (and the other cameras BTW) in the living room. Cool! I'm not using the FED-2 anymore as a daily shooter (my R-D1 made sure of that) but I'm not gonna give it up. It just looks too good, too sexy, too classy.

Oddly, my FED-2 has a brighter VF than my (cleaned) G-III QL17 or Yashica GSN. Indeed, the constant in FSU rangefinders is variation
Psst: you didn't hear this from me, but the FED-2's shutter speeds can be changed without cocking the shutter.
