a water damage at my upstairs neighbour's just caused bathing water to pour from the ceiling in our bathroom and ALL OVER my DRYING FILM (and over the light/electricity cable etc.).
it ****ed up the emulsion in most parts and I am SO BLOODY MAD right now.
I just need to vent and some mental support I guess.

I was always suspected that the worst part about film photography was the potential overheads ... this proves my theory!

sorry, a bit of light humour ... I do feel your pain! :bang:

That really sucks. Any chance you can wash and clean those negs? Hopefully you didn't loose too much stuff. Luckily I don't have anyone live above me.

thanks.

here's one from the roll that survived the attack.

damaged film is bad. but, imagine how much worse it would have been if it were your archive or your gear. still, the neighbor deserves some punishment.

that shot that survived the attack is really nice. hope you're able to salvage the others. meantime, get some food and a drink.

Sorry Simon !

Had that happen once 20 years ago .... a dishwasher hose disconnecting from our up-floor neighbors kitchen and water flooding everything, while the neighbor was gone .... came in everywhere, in particular the electrical system, lamps running full of water, etc.

We had to move out for a couple of days, using the electrical system while wet was dangerous. And then we had very noisy driers in every room for 2 weeks ..... In Lugano in summer, which is easier than Berlin late November.

It sucks. The neighbor or his insurance should pay you a hotel for a few days. With good lunches and dinners.

Roland.

well, sorry to hear this, here is a less scary but no less frustrating moment last week. I attend a wet printing class, the teecher asked us to develop a reel of film in d-76. But wanted us to mix the d-76 in 1+4 dilution, i felt a bit weird as the development time was for d-76 stock, but it was my first lesson (the class started 3 weeks earlier) and i didn't want to speak up.

well, everybody's negatives were severely purple and undeveloped. I should have used a test negative rather than beautiful people shots from the rollei 34 S....
