Another great article on rangefinders in Popular Photography or is Herbert Keppler going soft. Features Leica M7, Zeiss Ikon and Bessa R2A.
see here Rangefinder

Plus check out this PopPhot article Film.

Now lets go shoot some photos. Nice to be noticed.

Not that I'm really complaining, but as usual PopPhoto is feeding straight to the manufacturers. I am very pleased, though, that they didn't directly compare prices to SLRs or 🙂eek🙂 DSLRs.

I found the SQF performance charts of the Summicron, Planar and Heliar 50's very interesting for whatever they are worth.

I really think it is great that Popular Photography has lately been publishing very appropriate items on such things as film and rangefinder cameras.

It's a refreshing breath of fresh air from the endless-loop hype of more and more megapixels.

how are we being noticed by this article? It only mentioned a few cameras..

Yeah, but it mentioned the three most comparable models of all the M-mount film cameras you can buy brand-new.

I thought it was a good, sensible, even-handed and non-hysterical writeup that might well inspire some newcomers to investigate what this rangefinder-camera stuff is all about.

Unfortunately, if those people Google "rangefinder camera," they don't come to Rangefinder Forum until about the fourth page of results. Still, if they seek, they'll (range)find us...

Yeah, but what is funny (to me at least) is when I'm googling for information on some arcane camera or lens, I keep coming across page 1 links that point back to go ol' RFF. 😀

And the trouble with loading an M7...c'mon... (did anybody see Annie Leibowitz do it on that PBS special, by the way? Shockingly fast.)

Maybe it really IS true that women are more coordinated. One of the reasons I got rid of my M4-P was that I had a lot of trouble loading it, especially if the film was cold.
