Ultron. Speed matters

I personally would go with the Biogon for image quality.. but for price/speed the Ultron gets the nod

if the 28mm Biogon is anything like the 35 then I say go for the Biogon!

If the ZM is as good as the Contax then I would chose the ZM Biogon

The Ultron. The other two aren't really bargains. For the price of the Biogon you can get one of the earlier 28mm Elmarits.

Do you thing 520 euros is a resonable price for a used biogon T 28mm/2.8 in exellent conditions?

Ultron 28mm - great lens and works well with its FoV on the RD-1. Slightly low contrast - making it very strong in bright sun situations when shooting RAW. A favorite "walk-aournd" lens for me.

If it's nice it's an OK price. Not great but good. Tony has one "used like new" for US 787 (= EUR 546).

Depends on your needs. Speed? Take the Ultron. Compactness? Color Skopar 3.5/28. Sharpness? Biogon. Signature? Summicron 28.
Personally I think with the Ultron you have the best speed/performance/price balance.

The Ultron has served me well and nicely compliments the R-D1's image sensor. In terms of image quality, the 28 Ultron is near the top of the entire CV lens line. In low light situations, having an extra stop on the Biogon is a big help.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions!
Well, the ultron seems to be a winner!
I just noticed that the Ultron seems to be discontinued. Any idea if they plan to release a new version? Maybe with bayonet M mount...

I would bet cash money that an M-mount version is in the future.

The ZM 28 is great, but if you already have a 35, you might consider the ZM 25: it renders with amazing resolving power. Take a look at the M-mount flickr group to see some of the signature differences.

Are you sure about that?

To be honest I could live very well with all three of them. But I stay with the Contax Biogon 28mm almost zero distortion and just 150 gr and small small small.

Well, I am seriously thinking of shedding the CV and trying the Biogon myself. Maybe soon...

Version 3 Elmarit ( 49mm filters) that I have had for 20 years. Today I would get the new compact 28.
