I like to throw my camera into a knapsack but it is not very well protected. Anyone tried one of these?

Seems just right for protection and they look great.

I have seen them and while it's a good idea they seem expensive. That said, for years I have used a similar product once made by Benser. It is a leather pouch with a wrist loop just big enough to hold my M6 with 50mm Summilux and one extra roll of film. They are hard to find but works perfectly for me. I wish I knew where to get more of them. Joe

To carry my M in back- or tank-bag, I use a modern ER case, Akiva, like this:

Way more functional, IMO, and available used for around US 100 or less. It comes with either short or long front, the short one (see pic) is big enough to fit, say, the 35/1.4 Nokton with hood.

Roland.

I have the A&A Rina case, it's nothing special. Save your money, and get something like the Leica neoprene case instead.

The semi soft case made for the Leica M5 has a three quarter zip and will hold all sorts of cameras with up to a 50mm lens fitted. I found one on eBy ages ago for about sixty dollars and use it a lot.

edit ... I meant to add, because the M5 is such a porker the case will hold an M3 or M2 etc with a Luigi case fitted to it.

i too have the A&A Rina case. it isn't anything special, nice sot insides to protect your cam and lens from scratches while in your knapsack.

they have come out with a newer more rectangular design, but no difference in level of protection.

+1 for the OP/TECH Stretches to fit, I use the small one, fits everything up to an MP and Noctilux. For just a lens I have the small bags from the same material.

You can buy a Leica neoprene case for less
Agreed, I bought an M8 neoprene one used for £20 about a year ago and as good as the OpTech ones are the Leica case is way better and instead of the poppers on the back of the OpTech which can damage the back of your camera as you press them in place (I speak from experience) the Leica has velcro fastening and a little pouch to fit a memory card or whatever.

Use it on all my Leica's and find it just perfect especially as they are so light and you can fold it over and place it in your pocket. :)
