I bought a very nice Canonet QL17 GIII recently. The camera is clean and works fine, but the imaging in the viewfinder for focusing is yellow. Is this what I am supposed to see with this model as I line things up?

Yes, both of mine have the yellow tinge in the focus patch.
It should be easy to line up the two images as you focus.
