I'm cleaning out a 1 liter container of my Neofin Blau, used it all up, and plan to make more in the same container. I would like to completely clean out this container before starting over with it.

What do you use to clean out your containers?

I know that since I'm putting in the same thing I had, I don't need much more than hot water, but still, I'm curious as to what you guys use.

Thanks,
P^)

Just water (not even hot water) usually.

But to be honest, those containers are so cheap that I generally replace them if they are old or if I'm planning to fill with some other substance. After having one old container (full, of course) start leaking at a seam I re-think reuse every time.

It depends upon the nature of the stains.. I'll use anything from water and dishwashing soap to denture cleaning fizzies to a lab glassware cleaner to "tank and tray cleaner"... Personally, however, I tend to mix my developers into 1 litre orange juice bottles made of tinted PTFE. I remove the labels and replace with my own and modify the bottles to be easily recognized. These bottles are offered from time to time for under 1 EURO each inclusive of juice. If they are stained or in any manner no longer in pristine condition they get tossed. As an additional safety measure the bottles are only used or stored in my darkroom within the chemical area. Foodstuffs, drinks etc. are forbidden. With bottles of acids, metal salts, all kinds of developers and oxidants--- yes, I do have the University qualifications---- its a highly restricted area.

Other Bottles:
For other items I use either APO-norm (German pharmacy standard glass bottles), some antique pre-war chemical glass bottles or high end from Schott [wonderful but obscenely priced]. They all get treated as lab glassware--- and that's more than "hot water" to clean.
