in the spirit of stephen's recent thread about the rff site…

is there any interest in a year's worth of monthly themes?
i'm thinking a mixture of gear and image related themes that end up with a thread full of images.

for example…
one month the theme can be subject related…'kids', 'goats', 'snow', 'water'…
one month it could be more gear related…'wide angle', '85mm', 'shallow dof'…

Sounds like my old camera club. It worked well in the 1970s and provides a focus for actually getting out and shooting something.

Good idea, especially if they are month-long in duration. That gives me enough time to shoot and get my slides developed to participate with fresh images.

Joe, no matter anyone does, says, etc.. There's gonna be trouble. Get your moderatin' gear on.

Personally, I don't like themes. Feels too much like a camera club. I was on another site that is all monthly/weekly themes, and everyone there is fighting for "likes". Gives them bragging rights it seems. The more likes their images got, the more they felt like they could control the forum. The images were, well, immature in scope and vision, pedestrian to say the least. Everyone, mostly the "newbies" as they like to call themselves, used large script watermarks, fancy borders or frames, etc, on their images.

If people here feel okay with this, fine, but I know there are not a lot of RFF members that are into competitions, etc..

who said anything about a competition?
i said we would end up with a thread full of images…no likes, no winners or losers, just a collection of images centered around a theme.

I like the "themes" idea, Joe. The more we can make it about photography, though, the better, in my opinion. RFF is very gear-centric already--which is great, I enjoy gear, but it will be that way with our without themes.

Also, since there are too many of us who shoot just digital or just film or just B&W, etc., having something that excludes one segment (such as a D76 or DSRL theme) would appeal to fewer.

What I would not like, however, is a "female Asian" theme, as someone above (hopefully in jest) suggested above. Or anything remotely along those lines. Those threads always turn creepy.
