Hi guys,
I've been doing some research on 35mm compact camera. At the moment i'm craving for a GR1s but it's so hard to find... even on ebay. I would like to expand my target range but really have a hard time doing that. Would anybody be able to list me some cameras in the same league as GR1s, please? Olympus XA looks good too but that's about all i can find as alternative... :bang:
any help appreciated...
cheers!

I have a Rollei 35s, which I quite like. That's REALLY compact. I think they must have some at KEH

A Contax T2 or T3 is in the same ballpark--compact, great lens, the option of aperture priority and manual focus... All in all great 35mm compacts. You may also look into a Nikon 35Ti or 28Ti. If aperture priority and manual focus are not huge priorities, definitely take a look at the Olympus Stylus Epic (aka MjuII). There were a whole bunch of high-end compact 35s available in the late '90s, early '00s, but most of them have been discontinued.

The 35s, though, you should know, is a guess focus camera. No rangefinder.

Yeah, I just bought a Ricoh GR1v from someone on photo.net.
I already own a T3 but wanted a 28mm version. I researched the other offerings but considering price/performance, the ricoh was the clear choice for me.
The problem with these compact 35s is that they AIN’T making’em anymore. The collectors are buying the ones that are mint in the box so look for one that’s being sold without the box and has only been ‘lightly’ used . Check Craigs list, photo.net, eBay etc. Good luck!
