Hi, I am just curious what happens if you are shooting lenses having UV/IR filters in place already on an M9 which doesn't require any of these filters?

Well-known
This is in Leica's FAQ sheet for the M9.
The longer focal lengths, 35mm and up. Won't have any effect with a 486 filter.
With the wider lenses you may see colour shifting at the corners.

I use both the M8 and M9. Can I leave the UV/IR filters on the lenses?
For focal lengths of 35mm and longer, yes. For focal lengths wider than 35mm this is not
recommended, because through the UV/IR filter a color shift will appear in the corners.
