I just found one in a camera show for a couple dollars. Just wonder what is it for? I have absolutely no clue after searching on the net.

Can the "type a" be use as a 81A? looks kind of like a warming filter to me.

Anyone have any knowledge of it?

Thanks in advance.

Type A is probably a yellow

Type F also probably yellor or a UVA

Is there a code part #?

Possibly a Kodachrome filter.

Type "A" filter is for using indoor type slide film outdoors.

These are useful for popping the glass and making into a mount for a more modern filter size. I made on into a series VI filter.

Type A is for using Type A film (balanced for 3400 Kelvin) film in sunlight. Wratten 85.

Type F is for using clear flashbulbs with daylight balanced film. Wratten 80C. (That presumes it's blue. If it's amber, it's for using Type F films in daylight.)

Aside from the fact that nobody makes Type A color films anymore, the organic dyes used in the Type A filter are quite unstable -- Leica recommended replacing them every 5 years.
