What is this? Beattie-Coleman Adapter Type 14285

I just bought this on ebay for $10.00. When I found it the auction was set to expire in 2 minutes, so I purchased it without thinking too much...an impulse buy.
I have been thinking about converting an old Polaroid 800 (purchased for $15.00) to use pack film or 4x5 film.
This is obviously a back for a Polaroid, but what? A film pack or a 4x5 adapter pack?
I can't find much of anything about Beattie-Coleman on the internet.
Any help appreciated!

It looks like a Polaroid Film Back for some sort of Scientific Instrument.

Looks like it used the original roll film. Quite likely it was part of a camera used to take pictures of the traces on an oscilloscope screen.
