I saw this dual Leica mount/holder/whatever and I must say, I really want one. The photo is from WWII and it was probably a custom made piece since it doesn't show up in any of the 40's era Leica catalogs.

Does anyone have more info? I'd like to have one made.

That is an interesting photo. Probably a German officer carrying that kit. It looks easy enough to make out of decent quality steel. You'd want to line it with felt and have a little leather strap that held both cameras in. Otherwise it would be quite easy and interesting to make.

Looks like one 35 and one 50 mm lens.

Maybe a Lugar on his hip. That is a pistol that fits my hand better than anything else.
Sort of like the leica fits your hand , but better. Other pistols were more hard hitting, but nothing as nice to fire.
 
I'm sure it's easy to make, but whats bothering me is how the bodies are held together. Obviously not by using the tripod mount, but I was thinking the metal sheel and hinges that go around the strap lugs and use a locking pin to hold them together somehow.

I have a nice Walther PPK which suits the smaller size of my IIIc, When I buy my M6 later this year I'll get a Sig 229 to match.

Why is it important to have a matching Leica and gun?
 
I don't see any guns.
I see two Leicas and a pistol. No guns here. I'm Navy and a gun is something with a little bigger bore.

To sort this out, let us recall the old boot camp adage: "This is my weapon and this is my 'gun' - one is for killing and one is for fun."

Guess which is which. :D
 
Looks like a T shaped holder (can see a thin plate between the cameras)

Lugs stick out as you can see on the bottom. Other side cap is fitted and looks like a clamp in the middle to hold the unit together and strap lugs sit out the end to hold the cameras in place

Ends of cameras are rounded, so just need use a hollow pipe with a slightly larger inside diameter and line with felt.

Just need a way to attach center piece to the inside of one end. Can probably weld aluminum or just use thin steel pipe

Is it safe to carry your Mauser in your boot?
Isn't there a risk of shooting yourself in the foot?
Or at least causing rust to your weapon from the salt and sweat?
 
I know someone who carried a pistol in his boot most of WW2. He still had the callous in 2017. He was in G2 and had to deal with German POW`s. Spoke 5 slavic languages.
 
I made plans for a similar carrier a few years ago inspired by a photo found on Google, and I remember this image as well.

I imagined a piano hinge at the rear where both cameras could fold back to back and allow for film loading. You could avoid mounting anything to the baseplates my making a snug fit shell for both bodies (connected by said hinge).

I can try to upload my drawings.
