What is wrong with my M3 finder?

There are some dark spots in the viewfinder(see pics) which cannot be seen if you look through it. Leica experts, is it something I should worry about, is the finder about to die? The RF path is clear and RF is bright enough... Thank you all in advance!

Hi,

seems the silvering on one of the mirrors in the viewfinder system is giving in.

If so, this is an expensive repair. How expensive depends on the exact mirror.

But, you can always have the finder replaced with an M2 finder, which is less pricy, offers 35mm framelines but less magnification as well.
