Which lenses did this master of 35 mm use did he have particular favorites
over the years, are there any good links so we can make comparisons.
It seems he was not distracted by the digital media and didnt seem to hurt
the quality and intelligence of his pictures.Did he have a Summarit?

There's a photo of him in a book I own that shows him late in life using a Leica R SLR. Don't know about the lens.

There are a number of self- (or non self-?) portraits I've seen with him holding a Rolleiflex TLR, a Leica R(something) and I think once I saw him (ok, a photo of him) with a Contax rangefinder, but certainly don't quote me on that.

Doisneau, as do most photographers working for a living, used a wide variety of equipment. I've seen pictures of him with various Rolleiflex's, Nikon and Leica slr's, Leica ltm's and M's and 4X5.

I think you can chalk-up that image quality to MF. It seems the majority of his work was shot with a Rolleiflex, judging by the quality and the format of the final presentation of the images. I think he used flash occasionally, too. Many fine things come from France, and Doisneau ranks at or near the top as one of the finest.

His most famous photo, "Baiser de l'Hotel de Ville" ("Kiss at the Hotel de Ville") was posed.

Robert Doisneau mostly used a Rolleiflex. I love a lot of his stuff too but I think some of it was posed.

Thanks for all your comments so far, since posting the question I have been looking
at his photos from the twentys to the eightys and it does seem that the rollei was his favorite or at least the vast majority of his very best shots were taken with a rollei,I noticed more head height photos in the sixties and eightys.

I was looking at some of his photos earlier today and had the same thought. I wonder in particular about the two Concierge(s) photos and a few of his indoor environmental portraits.

it seem there is strong artificial lighting used in the concierge with glasses picture
probably 6 to 8 feet high & rollei?
