If there were still an optics forum, I'd have put this there but...
I bought (at a good price) a set of M42 extension tubes that also had a lens included. Nice little thing; Soligor 80mm f3.5 preset lens. A few small cleaning marks but otherwise in very nice condition.
EXCEPT the lens doesn't fit any thing I own. And doesn't fit the tubes it came with.:bang:
It is some screw mount but it is not M42 or LTM.
This is not a huge deal but do any of you fine people know just what this lens does fit? Exacta maybe?
This lens will end up in the classifieds here most likely.
Thanks, all!
Rob

The Exacta mount is a bayonet. Also, it' s an SLR. Could that be a rangefinder cam/wedge on the back; does it move?. I can't tell from the photos what the dimensions are, but it looks a lot like a medium format lens. Since it has no shutter it probably came from a camera with a body shutter.

Perhaps Monaghan's Megasite has something on a medium format, interchangeable lens, rangefinder with a screw mount, or perhaps an SLR with a focal plane shutter. I seem to recall a 120 6X6 format SLR that looked a lot like a Kowa /Six and may have been sold under a camera store name. Something like the Kalimar 6. It was probably in the mid-1960's or so.

Can't be Exakta because it uses a bayonet mount. Possibly an MF RF camera because it seems to have a RF cam.

I forgot that the Exacta is a bayonet mount. D'oh! I dug out my calipers and the threads measure 43.92 mm. The angled part on the back doesn't rotate like I think it would if it were a focus cam, it doesn't move as the lens is focused.
The tubes were what I wanted anyway, so this lens is a bonus(if I can figure out what it's for).
Thanks for the reminder of Mr. Monaghan's site! I'll need to see what I can learn there.

If its a MF lens you could make lensbaby out of it!
Hmmm, probably better quality than the "real" lensbaby but a bellows and some duct tape and I might have an 80mm tilt/shift lens for my slr...
This could be a real bonus. Certainly fun while I figure out what to do with it!
