What version is this Canon 35mm f1.8 lens?

Hi,

I just bought this lens and have not seen any other 35/1.8 like this. It's all black and not black/chrome. Also the highest serial no. I've seen after googling, #21732. It's a beater but works great. Thanks!

Shoot a few photos and post them here. Maybe send an email to Peter Kitchingman as well who is THE Canon RF guy to go to for collector knowlege.
I found out that my old Canon 50mm f/1.2 LTM lens was the lowest known serial number from Peter.

Looks like version 1 (of 2) black paint. There are a few of them and I think there were some images even here in the forum. PeterK should be able to tell you if it is original.

Cool, I hope he'll see this and have an answer. Anyhow, then I know that an all black exists.

From my web research, I believe there are "black paint" versions of:

35/1.8
50/1.8
50/1.4
50/1.2
100/3.5
135/3.5

Your 35/1.8 should be pretty rare even in the overall Canon RF black paint context.

Also it would be fun to know which hood or lens shade that is correct for this lens.
