I have a fellow inquiring about trading my 12mm Zeiss for an 18mm and 27mm + $75. I'm not too keen on using this Zeiss but feel like this isn't the best deal.

Thoughts?

You feel like he should be putting in a little more cash? I think the deal sounds fair as long as you like the 18mm and 27mm better than your 12mm.

Zeiss 12mm lenses sell used for $500-$550 if in exc++++ condition with box.

The 18 and 27 are not the most popular Fuji lenses and turn up used pretty regularly.
This is one of those questions that only you can really answer.

I don't think this is such a bad deal. The Zeiss is $799 new.

The 27 is $450 while 18 the $599 (new). So, the Zeiss depreciation would have to be much less than the Fujinon depreciation for the deal to be unfair.

I did not check used prices because they are vary widely.

If you know this guy and believe the his lenses are in great shape. It seems fair to me.

I would not trade because I have no use for an 18mm or 27mm lens. I do, however, need a 12mm lens. The only trade I would make is for the faster Rokinon 12mm f/2 lens plus $250.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I will go through with it if everything checks out. I will check out the lens today. I talked him down a bit, as I am not satisfied with the performance of the 12mm at ALL. I think if I wanted to go back to the 12, a Rokinon will suffice. I have no use for the 27mm, and so will probably sell that.

I was really hoping to trade for a 16mm Fujinon however!
