Apologies if this has been covered before...but I am getting old and I like things nice, simple and straightforward.

I have always used Flickr simply to get the BBC code so that I can post pictures easily onto sites such as this.

Some clever young person has changed things, presumably for the better but really, I wouldn't know.

I can't find the BBC code now...or for that matter the other one 'H something'...so what do I do?

Where can I find it? I don't understand their so called 'help' page. Happy to use another 'host' if the best approach.

What would you advise??

Mr Grumpy aka Michael, a Leica LTM 'conversion' enthusiast who has just discovered Nex.

Dear Mr. Grumpy, Same thing happened to me. This feature is not available in the new photo view (the one with all the stuff to the right of the picture.) You must first figure out how to revert back to the old style of this view, then you'll find the BBcode in the share menu.
EDIT: the opt out buttom is on the lower left of each photo screen.

Ok, so here's how you do it. On the NEW Flickr layout (spit!):

1) choose the icon that looks like a box with an arrow curving out of it (the "share" icon). It's now in the right hand sidebar about a third of the way down, in a row with the star, comment balloon, and ... icons

2) in the resulting popup menu, choose the icon that looks like a thumbtack (pushpin) - this is for BBcode. There is a </> icon next to it for html.

3) choose the size you want from the dropdown menu

4) the BBcode appears in the single-line at the bottom of this popup. I was unable to click and drag across it to select it, but clicking and then using shift+arrow key to scroll across and highlight it all worked fine.

5) copy-paste as usual. Let's see if it works...

Seems ok. Clunky as heck, but ok.

When viewing an image, click on the icon circled in the image linked below to bring up the "share" menu, select "Grab the HTML/BBcode, make sure that the bbcode button is checked, choose your display size from the dropdown menu, and copy the code.

I had a similar problem to the OP's recently, and it appears to have been the result of an "upgrade" to Flickr that changed user settings. But if you follow the directiosn above, you can restore the settings so that the html/BBcode can be copied and pasted as you've done in the past.

It was different for me, but it does work, albeit kind of a small photo. In my Firefox browser, the soc. nt. stuff stays in. In the old view, I got the full range of sizes to choose from, and the dialog as above.

The thing I like least about Flickr now is that they have fritzed about with the statistics. Now it seems that someone only has to go near one of your images and it adds to your stats even if your image was not opened and looked at. Gratifying till you figure out whats going on - that its a all big con job to help sell advertising. For those who do not have a pro account its also no fun - what with all the advertising that defaces your pages. I do not mind paying to get rid of this but I think that option is no longer available unless you already have a pro account??!! Sad (he says resignedly!)

Arghhhh....took awhile for me to figure out
Flickr is getting to be NO FUN

... yep

recently saw you can make photo books with Flickr (guess similar to Blurb). there is new icon in every photo set that guides you forward. shipping only to US at the moment (?). anyone tried, how does they compare to alternatives?

I have, I don't find it that much better. People are mentioning ipernity as an alternative to flickr, but I'm not sure anymore, I'm a little tired of all this social networking stuff
