The Wire. Far and away my favorite show.
Probably one of the best written tv shows of all time.
I'd add Seasons 3-5 of "Homicide: Life on the streets."

Maybe because the thread is a spam?

Because I live in a free country where one can speak his mind. The originator of the thread asked what we like to watch on TV. I answered his question. What part of that didn't you understand before you felt the need to mouth off?

You're sure fun at parties. Imagine every single time a member on here has nothing to say he'd state just that.
I don't own a TV either, since it's pretty much pointless in Germany. Our shows tend to be horrible. Luckily you can get pretty much anything on DVD here, so there would be:
- The Sopranos
- The Wire
- Mad Men (you see a pattern here)
- Breaking Bad (thanks to this forum, weirdly enough)
- The Office
- 30 Rock
Those are the ones I like most, in order.

Chris, I find it interesting that you do not own a TV. Why? I have a friend who is the same way and when I ask her why, her answer is that it just does not interest her. Yet, she is a huge fan of movies....
I do not watch a lot of TV shows- mostly news, sports, and movie channels. However, my favorite series of all time was The Sopranos.

I'm not into movies either. I can sit through about 5 minutes before i'm bored to death and thinking how I'll never get back those minutes of my life that I'm wasting.
I'm too busy now anyway. I have to do commercial work to earn a living and I'm working on my masters degree, which requires 200-300 pages of reading a week and a lot of writing. On top of that I'm a single parent and my son's mother is mentally ill so she cannot help out with things our son needs parents to do, like helping him with homework, taking him to school, feeding him, etc.
Even if I had a desire to watch anything on TV, I haven't got time. My son likes to watch a few shows, which he does on his computer. He says the good stuff's on cable, which I cannot afford, but its free on Hulu and on some of the networks' own websites. I don't mind him watching the stuff he likes, I am not an anti-TV zealot, but I personally get bored watching it.
I have to be doing something useful or I go crazy. I have so many photos I'm in the middle of editing and over 100 rolls of processed film I need to scan pictures from that have backed up because I have too many other things I need to do that are of equal priority (grad school) or greater priority (my son and making a living so we can eat). If I did have lots of free time, I'd buy more books and read them instead of watching TV.

I don't party. I never drink and never have, and I don't like being around people who do, so I am definately no fun at parties even if I did watch TV and kept my mouth shut about my strong opinions
Too bad you can't get American shows there without buying DVDs. I know the cable and satellite TV services here offer foreign TV stations from about every country in Europe and Latin America and some Asian countries too. They cost extra on top of the regular cable rates and are mostly marketed to immigrants, but anyone can get them if they like non-USA TV.

Great confession Chris. TV nowadays is crap, especially in the Netherlands.
If I wasn't so addicted to good documentaries (and comedy) I didn't use a TV set.
To read a good book or being busy on something interesting (photography) or making and enjoying a nice dinner with loved ones, is better spent time.
