It's been about a month since I sent my M8 along with my 35 cron pre-asph, 50 lux asph and 90 cron off to New Jersey for a focus check. My dealer and local Leica rep said it would take about a week and it wil be marked "Rush". After a couple of weeks I was told that it had to be sent to Germany to get adjusted.
In the meantime I needed to get some publicity headshots of my students who wll performing with a couple of orchestras. They needed to be in a digital format and I really wanted to use the M8 but it was gone. :bang: . So I brought out my trusty Canon 1D Mark II and 50/1.4 and along with a $15 fake suede cloth for a backdrop and a tungsten lamp for lighting got the shots I needed.
I also needed to take shots of a children's concert we did and being w/o my M8 I again took my 1D Mark II with 24-70 lens. I felt pretty conspicuous with that honking DSLR and lens but everything worked out. I did take my MP and 40 Rokkor with me and there was a big difference in being "invisible". The MP was loaded with HP5 and still needs to be developed. Pics from the 1D are on a CD and have already given to the orchestra drector.
I would have loved to use film but both situations required a quick turnaround and digital was the way to go (for me). I anxiously await the return of my M8 and lenses but I am still pleased with the results. While not RF pictures I hope you enjoy the shots below.
