It's been a while since I have seen one of these. Does it mean the they all sold out? I know several people here have them. Anyone seen these lately? Even on ebay they dont pop up anymore. I suppose they are becoming a real collector's item?

Matsuiyastore has been the source for many of us here who have bought them. Several months back there was often one or two available at any one time on their website. But no there hasn't been any for a while now. I guess it's just a case of being patient and keep your eyes glued. And no, I don't want to sell mine.

I waited patiently several months for one to come up. Just yesterday I called it quits and bought something else. Owners are just sitting on them, and Matsuiyastore hasn't advertised one for quite a while.

@alan davus - not new but exc+. i am just stoked that i could get my hands on one. have to thank noriaki though...he said he could get me a used one and emailed me when he got it. i think it will be impossible to get new ones now.

A little off topic - This seems to be no UC Hexanon and I've never seen this lens before. Seems like a screw mount version of the Hexar AF lens. Does anybody know if they made it in black as well? Anywhere I could find more information about it?

Thanks Marc

Matsuiyastore sold at least one of those silver screw Hexanons, at a much better price too as I recall.

This was, as I understand, the pre-version of the UC-Hexanon. Optically the same. Just in silver, as the UC-Hexanon is always black

Optically the same as the Hexar AF and UC version except the coating on the UC is multicoated on all surfaces. This version is multicoated on a few of the surfaces. Nice if you like chrome finish and aren't into tab focus.

my uc-hexanon is here (another thumbs up for noriaki and matsuiyastore) and boy its tiny! i think it will look good on my hexar. that lacquered brass is a thing of beauty and now i can understand why folks love those black paint leicas. also got a cv adapter and looking forward to taking a few shots soon.

btw, is the hood really required? changes the size of the lens though. i might look into a rectangular hood.

No other 35mm can beat the UC-Hexanon for small size (hiking lens) and modern coated glass. I had it with me travelling through Denmark this summer (can see it on my flickr gallery tagged konica35mmf20ltm). I like small lenses and decided for it, against ZM-Biogon 35/2 and older non-asph. Summilux 35/2. I can live with some sharpness losses wide open when compared to newer (much longer) 35mm lenses. It's the ultimate "Barnack" 35mm lens.

I wish I purchased one last year when Matsuiya Store had plenty of them :( Now they seem to be impossible to find. Last one I saw in the classifieds: the buyer wanted more then what I recall Matsuiya was asking for...

What do you expect? Its a great lens, far better than most. Its a limited edition - only 1000 made. AND Its impossible to find - no wonder it goes up in price! And I'm not even talking about dollar value being what it is now. I wouldnt be surprised if it will be selling at Leica prices or more pretty soon.

i think its value will rise for sure. because apart from the matsuiyastore (and his lot is gone), this lens is hard to find. quite a phantom lens!

Here are some more taken with the same lens:
