This camera really interests me but they seem fairly scarce. I saw one on Ebay. Is there somewhere else I should be watching for an RD-1?

Also- what is a fair market price for one?

Watch the classifieds here. They show up on a fairly regular basis, and usually in good condition and fairly priced. On eBay, matsuiyastore often has them. Very good seller.

Just like you, I was looking for a R-D1 for almost 4 months. I checked RFF and Photo.net classifieds hourly but still cannot get it. I was 2nd in line twice. :-(

Just when I was thinking to give up R-D1 and buy a M8, there was one used R-D1s listed by Adorama. I took it right away. The price is great too.

Anyway, I love my new toy, it is great camera and perfect for street photography. People usually pay less attention to me when they think I am shooting film. :)

Good luck on finding a R-D1.

Does KEH ever include the original packaging with camera bodies they sell? I used to buy Canon/Nikon lenses from them and they never had the original box.

You need to look for LN (not LN-). It's uncommon but it does happen. I *think* (this is basically a guess but I've been a customer for more than 25 years) that if a camera or lens comes in that is not itself like new and it has box/manual/etc., they are broken up. I think they only keep them together if the hardware is basically perfect.

I could be wrong...

When I bought my M8 from them it was not stated to have the box, but when delivered it came with the original box with all the manuals. But usually they do not include anything that is not stated in the title of the add.

Started my quest for this camera and can't find one under $1500. Neither KEH nor Adorama seem to have one. Ebay is chancey and/or overpriced. No way is this thing worth the $2 K+ I've seen it listed for. Any tips?
