For example, i've seen a few bodies with coloured lenses on the rangefinder lens. Where do you get those?

They're not cheap. I bought a IIIg where someone had cut a small circle of orange gel and fitted it under the original fixing which worked just as well. They are meant to increase contrast in the rf patch but after CLA it didn't need it anymore
Straps I have bought from eBay too. Zhou one knot being a favourite

A red or orange marker applied to one of the RF windows will let you know if it really helps you at a minimum cost. Cleans off easily with a bit of alcohol.

I'm one of the "thrifty" types who slips a circle of Roscolux R-21 amber gel under the inner lip of the RF window bezel.
I love Leica goodies, but I am NOT paying $75 + for an ORKAO / OKARO filter. !

Hi,
A little red or orange filter on the RF window is either an OKARO for the IIIc to IIIg (and I guess the II's) and for the earlier II to IIIb's an ORAKO. (I just hope I got that the right way round.)
As for getting them and other bits, invest in the little Hove Foto book about accessories for the Leicas and rummage around flea markets, posh camera shops and ebay etc. They (the little book and accessories) turn up all over the place, spotting them and then deciding if the price is right is half the fun...
