Let's talk about experiences! Picking up your camera, going out to shoot - where and in what situations have you gotten into?
I love going out hiking and road tripping. I do this mostly alone and I've gotten into some really strange situations so far.
I've been (almost) shot at, attacked by foxes, got stuck in the swamps few times and been trapped in the old harbor with huge storm.
It was pretty late in autumn - nights were already dark but there wasn't any snow yet. I went to this big field to shoot stars. Set up my tripod, camera. Because I wanted to use about 30minute exposure time I had to stay there and hold the release cable.
As I stood there a deer stepped out from the bushes near the field, about 400 meters from me. It didn't took long before a car stopped on a road not long from where I stood. They had a huge search-light and started to scan the field with it. Of course they were hunters and of course they wanted to shoot a deer. And they did.
I don't know why I didn't yell and made myself visible. The search-light stopped right on the deer and partly on me as I was standing pretty much behind the deer. They fired a gun, killed that deer and took it in the car.
The funny thing was that the whole time I stood there, holding my release cable and didn't move or say anything. They didn't see me even when they came to get the deer. If they had been missed it could have easily been me who would been shot.
After they left I realized that the exposure time was complete, released my cable and went back to my little house not too far from there.
Later when I developed the film I saw that the exposure time was way off. I didn't get the picture I was after but I also didn't get any bullets in me. Overall, I'm happy to have this kind of experience.
Where has photography taken you? 🙂
