After a long evaluation I decide I needed a new apo-Summicron 75/2; no way to find it used: only the old summilux 75/1,4 very heavy and big at minimum 1400-1500 euros. I don't wanted it. I began a very very long research for buying it new at a decent price. After a lot of time I've found one on a Hong-Kong shop through Ebay. It costed me something like 1500 euros in total. A real deal. External box wal a little injuried but internal was perfect and sealed. I live in Italy and paid it through Bank Transfer. Happy to do it. Hong Kong is best place in the world to make deals. Just to be careful and ask to serious dealers. Never Western Unions in any case. 😉

Bye.

Ezio.

Congrats on the buy! Me, I'll go with popflash.com when it comes time. Great prices, service, selection. Anyway, yep it pays to shop around.

I had the 75mm 'Lux for three years but sold it early this year as soon as the 75mm 'Cron rumors became solid. The 'Lux is a unique lens but I hardly ever shot at 1.4 and never liked the extra weight. (Those 60mm B+W filters weren't cheap either.)

I bought the Summicron through HK and would do so again. It arrived at my front door three days after ordering! It is a beautiful lens that has met all my expectations. It also handles so much easier than the 'Lux. If you don't absolutely need the 1.4 aperture, buy the Summicron.

It's probably the last new Leica lens I'll ever buy to feed my M-habit but it may also be the best piece of Leica glass I've ever used.

Congratulations on your deal! This is one of the best Leica lenses yet made. I almost never leave the house without mine, these days. (I got mine via popflash.com about a year ago).

I'll stick with the 75mm Summilux. It's awesome all around, and handles well. It can isolate a subject much better than the summicron with creamy bokeh fore & aft. Stop it down, and they are indistinguishable. Also I find that the 75 Summicron is too close in practical application to my 90 summicron. Might as well add the extra versatility of the 1.4. Both are extremely fine lenses and this is really nitpicking.
