Hi,
I need a large number of reloadable film cartidges for a one-time use as I do not develop film anymore. I have several 100ft rolls of bulk film and need to stck up on cartridges. They seem to be rather costly at many photo retailers. Is someone like Freestyle my best bet here? Your advices are welcome.

The cheapest you can get are used cartridges from your local minilab - free. Use scotch tape to join the end of your bulk film to the bit sticking out of the cartridge and you will be fine. 🙂

I'll second the use of the cartriges from your local minilab. Otherwise, the ones from Freestyle are nice because you can pop off both ends for cleaning.

well it is if you already have the sites BOOKMARKED! 😀

hope this helps,

Thanks Dan. The cartidges at Porter's are more expensive than those at Freestyle.

Absolutely on the minilab thing.

They usually have hundreds of cartridges in boxes, and if they don't, they can save them for you in one or two days.

Not only will you save money, but you'll save the world from a little more garbage as well.

Just buy six and ask for them back when you take them for processing.

Andy: I will do so since I am planning to do local developing anyways. I guess, then I would only need a few cartidges, just enough to have film for a trip.

try it once or twice to make sure everrything is light tight

These vary in quality; like anything else you get what you pay for.

Some cheapies have loose ends; these will come off in-camera.
Beware also sharp light baffle felt that will scratch your film.

Kodak Snap Caps, if still available, are a safe bet...
