Getting more confused reading the internet (surprising)! Does the Fuji adapter or any other brand work with my Pre Asph Lux? Version 2, late German if it matters.

Why wouldn't it work? I have the Fuji adapter and the XP1, but don't own a 35 Lux. However, I'm pretty sure I mounted the exact version you referenced just last weekend at a camera swap meet. However, I was using my XT-1 and not the XP1 but I can't imagine that the bodies would make any difference.

None of the 35 Summilux's are on the supported Fuji list:

Some L mount lenses can also be used but an optional L-M conversion adapter would be required

To be clear - this is the official Fuji list for the official Fuji adapter. The adapter comes with a gauge to check the back clearance on other lenses. All that in mind, I would be very, very careful. (But I would still try it out - slowly and carefully. At your own risk of course.)

Why wouldn't it work?

I'm with Eujin on this one. I don't see why the 35 lux pre-asph WOULDN'T fit? I've mounted adapted many M-Mount lenses to Fuji X, and while I haven't mounted your exact model lens, I'm a former owner of a pre-asph lux and I just can't see why it wouldn't fit? Similarly-sized lenses such as the 40 Cron and 35 pre-ASPH Crons fit perfectly! Your lens should totally fit without any problems.

IIRC, the only M-mount lenses that have clearance issues on most mirrorless systems (Fuji, Sony, etc) are older Biogon designs with rear elements that poke WAY into the camera (like the Jupiter 12?), or some specific M-Mounts (again just going off of memory, but I think the 50 Cron DR may have been one of them)?

Early "internet advice" on the subject is confusing and contradictory if you ask google and I suspect that early on, poorly designed adapters and other flaws cause the "problems" that you find online?

My big advice is to go for the Hawk's Factory Version 5 Leica M -> Fuji X adapter if you can...it's got an adjustable infinity point so you can use "true" focus stop infinity on your M lenses (so convenient!) and it also has a macro extension function that is very useful! Hope this helps.

^ The photo on the eBay listing shows a DR mounted. Interesting ... not that I'm in the market for a DR, but I loved mine when I owned it.

I'm just going off of my admittedly crappy memory and research I did like two years ago when the XP1 was still "new," and M adapters were going through some growing pains. I believe the issue was not caused by the rear element or the lens itself, but the design of early aftermarket M-Mount adapters not playing nice with certain M-Mount flanges or helicoids? You're right, the Hawk's adapters have played "nice" with every M Mount lens I've adapted, including the 50DR (which was an amazing lens BTW!). :)

Those kinks plaguing M adapters should have been long since "solved," but still show up in google searches when you look into the matter. From my own experience and research, the biggest issue preventing the adaption of any lens to mirrorless systems comes from lenses with rear elements that protrude back too far?

Thanks for the additional comments. Now that I have a Summicron 40 and may add a wide angle, at some point I will get an adapter for my X-Pro. While others would work, the Hawk seems an excellent choice due to the adjustability, even though it is pretty expensive.
