I came down hear with just a tank and scanner. The scanner dosnt work so i have prints made at the local supermarket🙂

Recently ive been using my 111f a lot with color film but my 11c has has B&W there are three negatives that need printing

But no enlarger..timer..trays..hear

Having looked in hear i went off looking for an enlarger🙂 years ago i bought several for around the 10€ or less🙂 Including boxes of priceless lenses, but i never used any of them---i went digital😱

Today prices have increased 😱 I found a Bessler 45m for 50€ An Omega 4x5 with simmon head??..150mm schneider focus memory???? 60€
Bessler 67c long(1m30) 100€😱😱

I think they have both diffusion and condensers

I want to 35mm not 4x5 but even at these high prices id like a 4x5 for 35mm🙂 Later i can buy film for my 4x5 camera which is decoration

I cant use an enlarger with 4x5 condenser,if there isnt diffusion can i make a diffuser??

Which one should i get?? Iike the look or the omega 4x5 and it comes with tanks lights timer the whole dark room

Years ago i dreamed of an Omega 4x5 and now i can have one🙂 but the bellows dont look realy great

Any advise

There is a bessler 23c but that 300€😱 Also Durst focomat ic 20/30€

All of the Beseler 45 and 23 variants, with the exception of a few rare ancient 45 variants (~>50 years old) have fully adjustable condenser systems and can handle anything from 35mm up to their maximum size.

Actually, the condenser settings are not format specific but, instead, lens focal length specific. The Beseler 45 models can adjust to 50mm through 150mm enlarging lenses. The 23 series handles 50mm through 105mm lenses.

There is no problems printing 35mm with a Beseler 45 series enlarger provided you get an appropriate lens (usually 50-65mm) and negative carrier.

I've owned Omega 4x5 and 5x7 enlargers all of my career but have also owned a 23C Beseler and used 45M enlargers at different companies I've worked for. In all honesty both are superb and you can't go wrong with either. The Omega 67, I'd skip that one. They're fine but not as solid as the 4x5's. They were aimed at the amateur market and the 4x5's were for the professional market and day in day out use.

Omega are my preference and still use a D5xl with an Ilford B&W variable contrast head on it. If buying an Omega condenser enlarger I'd definitely buy one with the adjustable condensers. I've worked on both the non adjustable and adjustable and the non adjustable require different condenser sets for different lenses. The adjustable just requires moving a single condenser from one slot in the head to another. The Beseler adjusts by turning a knob and that's it.

MOst Beseler 4x5's are motorized for up and down. I don't care much for that and think the Omega system is better. My D5 has a crank and older D2's just slide up and down and have a locking knob. Easy and simple and easy to make fine adjustments as apposed to trying to get a motor to stop where you want it. Either though is very good.

If you want diffusion get a Chromega II head. You can print color if you like or you can use it for B&W. On the internet you'll find information as to the filtration to dial in for a specific contrast grade for variable contrast paper. Chromegs II's are very cheap and excellent. I've owned a couple of them and printed thousands of color prints using them.

I'd say buy the one in the best shape with the most accessories and start printing.

wow thanks,i skipped all the color heads & yes i thinks it was an Omega that had several condenser heads it may have been expensive but looked complicated.

With a color head i could use it in place of multigrade filters (i have somewhere🙂)

In the past i only ever had 35mm enlargers or 120 but wanted a 4x5 and longed for a bessler they did seem more versatile

One dose have or seem to have very poor condition bellows

Unfortunately the site i found them dosnt save the ones i liked to look at latter,i have to go through all the junk to find what im looking for

Ill go look again and come back hear tomorrow

Thanks for that great post the things i read in "Darkroom" are coming back🙂
