Greetings,
This subject has probably been covered already but if so I could not find it.
I just started to investigate about the multiple types of Yashica Electro 35's but I must say there were a lot of models and I am a bit lost. Could you help me select what would be the best for me? Key selling points: must work fine so I guess must not be too old. I need a lightmeter that works too. If possible use current batteries or there must be an adapter that I can find easily. Must be serviceable if that is still possible. I also love black paint
I had a few Leica Ms in the past but I sold them. Bad idea. Now I am left without a rangefinder and I am crying. I cannot buy another Leica soon but I believe an old and reliable Yashica Electro would make me happy.
Thanks and best!

It is really not which that matters but condition. Yashica GSNs are not collectible so it does not matter. Get one in the best possible condition and enjoy it.

The silver ones like GS or GSN are excellent users, but the black GT and GTNs run a bit more as there were less of them made, so they are collectible in the sense that they will cost more.
I have been extremely satisfied with my GSN.

GSN's are cheap and great for the price, IMO. I love mine. I paid $15 for it in almost mint condition.

GS, GSN, GT or GTN. Pay more for one that is tested, works, and has a return policy of some sort. My only gripe with the electros is that they aren't the prettiest camera and there is no exposure lock. In practice, though, the meter is so great that the pictures always turn out great.
