Is there anything one should be aware of when choosing an adapter for a screw mount lens? I need to fit an old Summar 50/2 to my M6 and I was wondering whether I could just go for a generic type or whether a Leica adapter would be definitely preferable.
There are plenty of adapters sold on Ebay but I wonder if there is anything specific one should look for.

The cheap ones sometimes dont lock on, chrome peels off, etc. You will need to get one that will bring up the correct framelines on your M6 as well. I would go to the cameraquest.com website and order a CV 50/75 Type II adapter. They are $55 but the quality is on par with the lenses so it is worth it IMHO.

Well-known
It has to be an adapter for the 50mm frame lines, because the adapter enables the frame lines and you cannot override them on the M6.
My experience with (chinese) 3rd party adapters is mixed at best. The tricky part is to enable the frame lines properly.
It seems, it is best to get an original Leitz one. Here in Germany they cost in a reputable shop as much as a new Voigtländer. They pop up on ebay as well.

I got excellent Japanese made adapters (28-90 and 35-135) from www.fedka.com. They cost only slightly less than the CQ ones, though.
