I'm curious as I've been playing with the A7 in the store and they have a Voigtlander M to E adapter as well. I know there are a number of manufacturers and price ranges so I'm curious what people are using on their Alphas (or Nex cameras for that matter) to allow them to use their M-mount glass.

The voigtlander one is great, reaches infinity perfectly and of very nice build.
My advice is to stay away from cheap adapters...dropping a $500 lens for saving $50 just isnt worth it.

That's what I was thinking Victor.. I know the Novoflex adapters are expensive but other than their build quality vs the Voigtlanders does their price warrant the extra $80-$90?

Dave - I'm using 3 different ones on a Nex 5N and 6 - Hawks (1st version) , Voigtlander, & Novoflex. Order of build quality good the best - but no problems with any and the Hawk's adapters helicoid is most useful. I bought the Novoflex (used luckily) b/c I wanted to use the Novoflex rotating tripod collar. Voigtlander is very well made IMO - so if you donlt want the tripod collar (folr heavier lenses) then I'd suggest either of these would be fine.

I remember reading at least one comment stating that it blocks corners on full frame. I wonder if this has been confirmed. (On NEX there is obviously no such problem.)the Hawk's adapters helicoid is most useful.

I highly doubt this, but I can test
I've immersed in conversation re A7r and never heard it come up.
I'm sure Hawks would respond to inquiry on the subject.
That adapter is a must have. It's good to have a second fixed one also, and those mentioned are very good. But the close focus capability value cannot be overstated.
For example: 28 cron on 5n:
this is impossible without hawks:

OOPS I see voigtlander also has a close focus adapter--so that would be OK also
I have a $15.00 adapter from rainbow imaging which works fine; holds lens very tight. It does go past infinity, while the hawks is dead on.

I have the Hawk's helicoid adapter, too. No A7(R) to test with.

I opted for the Voigtlander - mainly because the price was "ok" and it was available. I'll be playing with the A7 and my Leica / Zeiss / CV glass today - so far I really like what I see and can get from this camera.

I use Novoflex, LME helicoid and Chinese generic CZJ/Exakta adapters. All are good but the Novoflex has very obviously the best build quality.

Generic Chinese one in the $40 range. It says only 'Leica M-NEX' on the adapter itself. The box is marked 'W TIAN YA ADAPTER RING'. Now, I don't know whether W TIANG YA indicates a brand, or if it's just Chinese for adapter ring.. Despite being cheap and of mysterious pedigree, infinity focus is spot on for the 50mm M-Hexanon.

I have several Rainbow Imaging adapters, including the M to Nex, from Amazon. Pretty well made and a good price. I use it with the 21mm Snapshot on my Nex 7. The one thing I dislike is that the release lever falls in a bad place inside the grip and pokes your fingers. Otherwise it seems quite good.

Another vote for the Voigtlander, although when I did a measurement test of the focus marks for accuracy, I ended up needing to shim the adaptor 0.4 mm. Without doing this, zone focus was way off. I haven't tested this adaptor on other bodies so I don't know whether its the adaptor giving a little to ensuring infinity focus can always be achieved or variability in the registration distance of the sensor.
I also happen to pass my local camera store today and dropped in to check out the Sony A7/r and was told that Voigtlander are about to bring out an adaptor similar to the Hawk.

I have the cheap Rainbow Imaging adapters for several mounts to Sony NEX.
These are solid, well-made, and fit both the body and the lenses. I don't care about infinity focus or zone focusing with this setup. With that caveat, these adapters are working well for me.
(I use this setup only for portraits, and I focus on the LCD with focus peaking.)

New Voigtlander M to NEX Close Up Adapter
New Voigtlander M to NEX Close Up Adapter
Voigtlander's new Close Up to M adapter will be shipping later this month. I'm taking preorders now.
According to Tom A who has examined it, its extremely well machined and the best made, most precision closeup NEX adapter.
Of course it does work on the new full frame Sonys.

This is an adapter I'm extremely interested in based on what Voigtlander claims it can do. Cutting the close focus distance in half would be incredible for getting rid of the limitations on some/most M-Mount lenses....
Thanks for letting us know when it's going to be available Stephen!!

Here's the table from their German site:

Looking forward to that one myself, as the Hawks was unobtainium in Germany...
