Is there any specific paint, people advice, to renew antireflective coating inside lenses on aluminum or brass?

There are lenses, which suffer from internal paint loss, which I would like, to redo.

Darren:

I've read of guys using brush-on Krylon brand BBQ flat black paint (for BBQ grills) in a can and powdered paprika spice mixed together for a super-dull/ no-shine finish, but never tried it. Both of which might be a little difficult to obtain in China.

Good luck,
Bill

Tetenal Optiklack Art Nr. 0936.

We seem to share the habit of never clearing out the cupboard - that one hasn't been made for some 20 years. Still in their catalogue is Kameralack, in 200ml spray cans (#105202).

The dullest you can get in small amounts and applicable without special tools is the black flocking sold by car paint dealers as anti-reflex coat for dashboard instruments (and sometimes also found inside long lens barrels or in mirror boxes).

Mine is made by Kodak...

For Helios-103 aperture blades I've used a Black Sharpie with good results.

There are a lot of flat black paints available in spray cans from auto spare parts stores and from hobbyist centres where its used for painting model aircrafts and the like. I have used both. I have also bough small cans from hobby stores and used it to brush on. All work well.

Used fast drying automotive flat black touch up paint. Small container with it's own nylon brush in cap.

Thank you all guys! this is such a nice flood of info!
I will save this thread as a web container in my "camera repair library" later ;-)
