Hello,
So over the past 4-5 weeks, I've rediscovered the joy of seeing images on a roll of newly processed b/w film (actually only about 8 rolls). It's been a blast to read the multitude of processing techniques & "recipes" that other people use to develop. I followed the processing instructions on the ILFORD site (its very easy) & I think I've been pretty consistent w/ times & agitation. HP5 is what I've been using mostly (aside from a couple Delta 100's) and it's pretty hard to mess up....
I've read & re-read threads on scanners and as of yesterday afternoon took possession of a CS V.
I had my introduction to grain aliasing.... nasty little bugger. I love the grain on the HP5, but dang! Pror to the Coolscan, I've tinkered with a Canoscan 8600f & the grain wasn't that evident on that.....
I've enjoyed the CS V though - plenty sharp and fast. I've read many threads on Vuescan & Silverfast & multipass scans to decrease the grain, but here's my question...
Does anybody have any advice on using the NikonScan software w/ HP5 negatives (I'll probably purchase Vuescan in the very near future, but until then...)?
In developing here's what I've been doing:
HP5 @ 400, DDX 1-4 @9 mins, 4 agitations in 10 seconds/ min (pretty much what the box says).
In scanning: I've been just using mono & grayscale - just trying to keep it as simple as possible for now.
What I hope to achieve: decent 11X14 prints, probably will have a lab do the printing...
Thanks a lot, j
