You would think that at my age, I would have stopped doing silly things like this!.....yet here I am looking out at the rain,- pacing, waiting for the postman to bring my 'new 1962 f2.8 Elmar'. At the last count , there were about six 'fifties' in that damn drawer upstairs! - so I need another like a hole in the head!, yet here I go again!....why?
Cheers, Dave.

An opera lover was asked why he had 30 different recordings of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro". His reply, "because there isn't 31!" You can never have too much of a good thing. Keep pacing.

I'm working quite hard on NOT doing this, because I believe that 'bargain syndrome' in particular is stopping me buying the kit I really want. What would another slow 50 do for my photography? Nothing. In fact the only 50 I want now is a Noctilux. If I can avoid 100x $70 'bargains' I can afford a new one...
I'm seriously considering dedicating a piggy pank, or possibly a Post Office Savings Account, to this. When I see a 'bargain', stick the money in the bank!
Cheers,
R.

Sounds like a guy I know who goes for Fujinon lenses (me
I have realized I have more cameras than I can comfortably use. I don't need more. What I need is time to use what I have and develop the photos I take. It just doesn't make sense to keep buying just to have things. You are silly. (Of course, if I see a Fujinon in 24mm, 19mm, or that 75-150mm in prices I can afford ... )
I understand what you are doing and I sure do fight it, like Mr. Hicks. I am getting better at it too. I still see things that in times past I might have used if bought then, like a 45 degree view back for cut film for my Mamiya. Now I have 4x5 for sheet film use and don't need it for the Mamiya. I still use the Mamiya for MF roll film use, so that money can go into film and processing.
Still, I feel for you brother. Have you tried contacting your local GASA to enter the 12 step program (That's GAS Anonymous.)?

why?
Because it's there. Yeah, I know, but somebody had to say it.

I think the second 'Cheers, R.' must have been a bargain one he could not resist.

Can never have enough 50mm lenses. They all have their own personality, character.

I will let the number of my gear get to a certain number. Once that number is reached, the name of the game bacame a buy one sell one. This has worked pretty well for many years, except in the past 12 months when I wanted to try many fixed lens RFs and I bought quite a few. But after trying many made their way back to the market with a net increment of 2 to the magic number. As i am getting on a bit, I will soon be reducing the magic number further and keep only a basic arsenal.
