there's a diana / pinhole / polaroid forum, maybe it should be named holga / diana / pinhole / polaroid?

Yes, Right There
I'd like to see it, but probably too troublesome here at RFF.
I'm a Holga shooter but here there are Holga haters too, who just want to argue, usually based on misinformation or myths they've heard and rumours.
For an example have a look at this thread.
Misinformation and myths surrounding poorly built cameras with plastic lenses?
And yes, I own three- including the new 6x12

Personally I don't care much for Holgas, but if there's demand for it, why not?
Take the existing Diana forum and put Holgas into there like Johan suggested.
Maybe other hipster/lifestyle cameras can go there too, like Action Samplers and iPhones with Hipstamatic.

Maybe even throw in scale focus, and make it a all-encompassing lo-fi photography forum - scale focus sees barely any traffic too, and the entire lo-fi genre is (or at least should be) more image than device centric.

Man, I wish I had paid attention and noticed a Diana forum. I had picked up a few lenses with the EF adapter and never warmed up to them so I gave them away to someone elsewhere. Had I known I would have put them in the giveaway thread that was going on prior to Christmas.

Isn't 'hater' a bit strong? I mean, I'd place myself in the category of "extremely puzzled by their popularity", not least because I used to have a Diana before the Holga craze. I have handled Holgas, which are close enough to Dianas that I couldn't be bothered to try them. But 'hater'? Hardly.
Cheers,

Is that strictly the case? I mean, isn't choosing a Holga, Lomo, etc., just as much about equipment as choosing a Leica or Gandolfi? More, in fact, when people insist that their equipment choice is an essential part of their seeing?
Also, there are some quite fancy scale-focus cameras, such as the Alpa 12 series.

In that tread there's nothing about hate. People have different opinions and that's normal. I am one of those who don't understand the Holga thing but I don't hate it, I just don't take it seriously. It could be that Holga gives always satisfying results (because on it's nature) and that is something to consider if your photography is so so

I think that's a generational misunderstanding

I think it qualifies to be added somewhere here and though I do like Holga pictures even though it's nothing I would try. One of my favorite photographers is a Holga shooter.
But yes I like to see Holga shots go through the gallery.
Short version, yes add it somewhere.

Thank you, guys. It means, that I can freely upload Holga pictures and post notes in Diana section. I am correct?

The original claim is that the vision is important and any device will do, even the most despised one. That people have grown to love one despised device over others is true - but I haven't ever encountered a Holga vs. iphone war, while the RF/SLR or Canon/Nikon wars probably even had a few casualties killed in bar brawls over the right camera brand or type...
Also, there are some quite fancy scale-focus cameras, such as the Alpa 12 series.
Well, I haven't seen a thread on that one. But scale focus is our only forum where the non-RF Robot cameras are on topic, and these do indeed create some traffic - so that suggestion is not as smart as I thought...

Cripes, the definitions offered of "hater" underscore the whole problem. Just because you might criticize someone's work (song, photo, writings, whatever) doesn't mean you have a problem with the creator personally. The use of "hater" by the "hated" is an attempt to delegitimize the critic -- and reflects an inability to tolerate criticism.
(As for Holgas, sure, why not? Not my thing, but that's not the point.)

I think you can't take it that seriously but, sure, it's got both these uses. Generally if you want to delegitimize a critic it's common to say he's just jealous. Calling someone a 'hater' is not much different.
Anyways, here's a funny little video about 'haters'

My last exhibition was of large Holga shots and I was at a party last night and noticed that a friend had one up on her wall. I'd like to post some on RFF if everyone agrees.
