Just saw this very interesting video by Chris Usher who states his views that everyone should shoot some film.
It is here:

Second video down. Interesting stuff.

That was a great vote for continued use of film. I use both, but my heart always returns to film.

Worth looking at regardless of film vs. digital. Looks to be an important project he's working on.

as chris put it:
because film has a certain Je ne sais quoi
a honda civic will get you to the same place faster and more efficiently the the 49 ford...but the 49 has a feel and style that the civic will never have.

I enjoyed the first two videos a lot. Thanks!
Sohox308, did you watch the video before saying that? He says that there is no need to be black and white about choices. He uses both. Just as in the past he would use different films for different effects, film and digital are now just tools in his bag. He doesn't get into which is "better".

I agree, but I found it strange when he started talking about raw and digital manipulation when he seemed to exclusively shoot tri x and slide film.FrankS said:The first video is also worth watching. Thanks!

I think he said: triX for B+W, digital for colour.
Again it's both, not film OR digital. This seems to be the most reasonable approach to this contentious "issue".

a quote by mr usher that I hope turns true:
In fact, now that the honeymoon and the infatuation is starting to run its course," he said, "I think that in the next five years you're going to see almost a retro backlash because of the things that film gives you that you can't get with digital."
better buy your used film cameras now
