Can someone please recommend a "wide" angle lens for the Pentax 645N ?

SMC Pentax-A 645 45mm f2.8
SMC Pentax-A 645 55mm f2.8
SMC Pentax 67 45mm f4
SMC Pentax 67 55mm f4
CZJ P6 Flektogon 50mm f4

Wich one would you choose ?

PS : I have a P67-P645 adapter.

Either of the former. The P67 lenses are huge and will have less resolution than the smaller format lenses.

Not on your list, but I hear fantastic things about the 35mm 2.8 for P645. I vaguely recall hearing that the 45mm was maybe not so good- but please check that elsewhere because I may be mistaken.

If it were me, I'd get a 55mm now as that makes a great "wide-normal" on 645 (55mm was my favorite FL on Mamiya 645) and add a 35mm later for something really wide.

I have the FA 45mm; as mentioned everywhere it's very mediocre, especially away from centre.

This is from the 45mm, not that you can tell much from a small web jpeg.

Out of your list I prefer the SMC 67 55mm f/4. Its big and slow but extremely sharp across the entire frame, even more so than the 645 55mm f/2.8. This and the FA 75mm are my two main lenses for the 645N.

It also has very smooth OOF areas...

This is at the minimum focus distance of this lens

Might look at the 33-55mm zoom too... It has performed well for me. Generally it does seem though that the later P67 lenses have an edge, at least in my experience. But you give up autofocus, fwiw.

Nice shot! I've heard the 33-55mm is the "lens to get" for the P645D. I take it the performance is good on 645 film too?

The 35mm is widely considered to be the best wide angle lens for medium format film by a very long margin, irregardless of manufacturer. This includes the FA or the A versions though I personally prefer the A for the fact that the focus is much more precise. After that the choice for the 645 is the 45-85, which is also a stunning lens, though it is a zoom.

I personally like the FA 45, but it does have a lot of distortion and does not handle architectural lines very well.

Hi -- This and the one above were shot with Fuji Pro 800Z in a P645NII, at or near the wide end of the 33-55mm. You can see some barrel distortion in this shot of the exterior of the same structure, an antique shop. Looks like flare over on the right, or maybe a kink in the film...
