A new Jeff Bridges film has just been released in DVD, The Amateurs aka The Moguls. Bridges plays a character a bit like his cult classic "the Dude" character in the Big Lebowski who organizes his own small back waters American town to produce their own money making porno flick. It's a well done off beat entertaining low budget independent flick with some big name talent.
BUT the real reason to rent this DVD for photogs is "The Amateurs Photography Book" by Jeff Bridges in the SPECIAL FEATURES section. It turns out Bridges is quite the serious still photographer and has for decades documented the making of his films in B/W with the Widelux camera, using the pics to create photo books to give to cast and crew. For the first time that I am aware of, Bridges shares a film's photo book page by page on the DVD. While he good naturedly explains his pics in detail, for photogs Bridges is more importantly giving a wonderful intro to the Widelux camera and what it can do.
If you enjoy panoramic B/W photography, rent this DVD. Better yet, buy it. I did.
