The new Epson V500 with it's 6400 dpi optical resolution and LED technology must be a step forward but I wonder by how much ? With it's predicted $250 (about £150 UK) price should I wait for a more robust LED tech. Epson flatbed ?

It sure does look like a 4490 with a new case color & button placement plus an LED bar in the same light housing. I wonder how they are getting 6400 ppi out of it though.

Yep, it's looks like an LED equipped 4490. Dmax is 3.4 as opposed to 4.0 (?) of the V700, no wonder the price is quite low.
