Will the M6 function without the battery?

Some people have actually removed the batteries from the M6 so that it is not too "distracting". I like my built-in meter as an exposure estimation confirmation device.

if i had an m6 i'd remove the batteries, tape over the viewfinder and remove the film advance lever. all these modern gimmicks just hinder the shooting experience man.

;-)

I intentionally remove the battery from my M6, and shoot it. I ususally check my exposure with a L308. It, like other M camera (M3 & CL) works find with me.

the built in meter will devaluate the M6 in the future as parts and repairs will become more and more difficult! Service the M6 before then...

Because batteries run down and there are places where you can not get them. It's nice to know the camera will continue to function with out it.

Funny how that excuse if so overused... :bang:

Note to self: batteries are so cheap and so small and so widely available in major metro areas, I should always have spares in my bag before I leave home.

You know even here in Texas in a couple of hours of driving I can be places over a 100 miles from the nearest place with any kind of batteries but AA or D cells. One also can just carries a camera with out a bag and making an expedition of it. Just grab the camera a couple of rolls of film and head out to see what one may see.
