The style of Vivian Maier was pretty much the point of the contest. Not as easy is it might seem.
So, not just another photo contest, but something with set parameters.

Hi Everyone,

Regarding the Vivian Maier contest, does anyone know if the number of votes received are displayed anywhere or if notifications are sent when you receive/cast a vote? Maybe I've just become addicted to early polling numbers.
 
Some great photos, but I think next time it would be best to limit 3 entries per person... 14 pages of great images are a bit overwhelming!

IMO the results of the contest must be completely secret and anonymous until the contest is closed. When the results are shown directly in real time, this will influence people having not voted yet. This is not a poll.

It's still time to hide that "vote tally" page until the several voting rounds are closed and the winner fairly chosen by the voters.

Also : by "vote getters", do the contest rules mean that what counts is the votes got by a single photograph per se, or the votes got by a photographer having submitted a series of photographs for this "Vivian Maier" contest ?

Absolutely right. The contest is majorly corrupted by this information being available. I have no conflict of interest having not entered. The number of votes world-wide is pitifully small. I haven't voted yet as I need to find time to get through the fourteen pages. Maybe a judging panel would have been better. OR: What about a second Rolleiflex just for participating in the vote....?
 
PS Hopefully the competition increases interest in submitting to the Galkery, and also, participating in the weekly Gallery picks.

I absolutely agree with Highway 61 here. I remember that the last time there was a contest on RFf I was very disappointed by the way the winner was chosen. The results were shown immediately. I think the results of the contest must be completely secret and anonymous until the contest is closed. When the results are shown directly, a lot of people will choose for the leader at that moment.

That is why elections (also political elections) are secret.

The weak point of these contests on RFf is the indistinctness of the rules.
