On previous week accompanied by three daughters I drove to NYC where we explored lower Manhattan, mostly by walking.
Prior to this I spend hours trying to decide which cameras to take. Unfortunately, I lost tiny Lumix P&S. It was amazing digital camera for the trips, with Leica lens and CCD sensor, as addition to film Leica.
I was trying and putting on weight scales different dual kits. Like Nikon G20 and Smena-8M, or M4-2 and Oly Trip 35. To have one camera for color and one for low light, bw. I lost my count how many combinations I have tried and how often I changed shoulder stripes to be able to wear two cameras and not bump them to each other.
On the evening before the trip I gave up and placed M-E with Rokkor 40 and Orion-15 to my go everywhere Tamrac bag, plus small and simple flash and charger with two extra batteries.
It was less weight, as two film cameras, also less space and quicker to deal with due to TTL metering.
I read how to use, push ISO 640 and tested it shortly after arrival.

I was using Orion-15 as long as it was enough light. This lens doesn't have too bad distortions and it allowed me to use it for family portraits where city was visible and for candid.

Of course, M-E BW is nowhere near to film, but I wanted to have it more in color, anyway.
I took under seven hundred pictures during five days and most of them are usable. Printed some of them in color as 5x7 yesterday and I'm very pleased with colors and sharpness.
With Rokkor 40 f2 in relatively low light time and location. I pushed exposure during editing.
My wife was at home with youngest daughter and I received high approval from her for this trip pictures.
I'll show some other examples later on.

Thank you Robert and Stompyg!
I don't know why, but I like what M-E gives me with Orion-15. It is sharp in the middle and buzzing at the rest of the frame. Colors are funky and even more after editing.
Couple of benches at the outer side of the Central Park with this lens on M-E:
Orion was set to f8 most of the day time.

Nice photos. I have long wanted an Orion 15 in Contax mount but I am unwilling to pay what is asked when they do show up at auction. Seeing your photos makes me want one even more, but alas ...
I thought the middle shot of the first three was really nice, BTW.

Excellent thread. Thank you for the posted images and descriptions. While I do not an Orion-15, I can add my voice to that of others who have witnessed a great marriage between digital cameras such as the M9/ME with old lenses.

Oftheherd and Raid, thank you!
Helen, you are number one and one person whom I'm wished to say Hello. But I was designed as guide to two kids, while they are trying to keep in touch with older one.
I only managed to escape once for forty minutes to get to BH, while all three daughters went to see some inside attraction.
This will be my next pictures to show

Plans have changed. Many of you knows why I'm posting this picture. It is 2017 and it was the only one thing I was afraid of going to Manhattan on previous week...

Black and White.
This one I also printed and I like it.
It reminds me Foma 400 film and scratches from bulk loader visible by scanning of underexposed negative.
Another grainy one at maximum ISO.
Regular BW.
This one was the only time I switched to BW JPEG1
I switched back to DNG shortly after it was taken. Person has hoodie color matching the store light color...

Nice shots Kostya! Just a few days ago I looked at some pics I took with my old M-E, and realized how I miss that look.

Nice black and white. I really like the one with the group walking, with the man and the baby carriage on the left.

Thank you both and Jeff!
For walking group I speed walk to make it in front of them, turned around while walking backwards, made the contact and took their picture.

These are risky places in NYC...when I was there a few years ago with my wife we visited B&H three times within a week...it was not too far from our hotel...temptation was strong...my wife even spent more money than me...

We were getting by bus 51 to the Bus Terminal in the Middle of Manhattan and walked for hours around. Never took subway, but rent bicycles once
. Mostly walked to South direction where Central Park and Museums are. No difference from Toronto. But less tacky hobos.
Two elder daughters walked 26km in lower Manhattan one day and no issues.

Sorry, but Central Park and the 5th Avenue museums are north of the bus terminal.
Also, we use the old English system in NY so 26km=16miles (tried to insert smile icon but couldn't)

Thank you for clarifications! I'm even more happy now what we still made it to the Park and Museums. And just by the map.
I was too quick to apply ebay hood for Orion-15, it came same day we were leaving to NYC and I didn't checked it for vignetting.
With Rokkor 40/2 in museums.
