For £2.57 including postage, I wonder what I've got:

The lack of any mention at all of condition is... intriguing. But you never know - I felt like gambling a couple of quid for a 50. Or two. Even if the J looks a little beaten up.

Looks like a metal version of the later J8 where the entire front lens barrel rotates when focusing. Thought they only came in black.

I'll let you know

And the Industar looks like one made for the Zenit SLR, which has the M-42 mount. I have heard that the Industar is a reasonably good lens, if you have a M-42 SLR to mount it to.

For £2.57 how can you go wrong?
If that J8 has even OK glass you got a steal ... nice

Right, the pair appeared on my doorstep this morning.
The Industar does indeed appear to be M42. It also seems to be in pretty stunning condition all round. It'll make a nice compact unit on the front of my K1000 (with adapter ring, natch) and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
The J-8 looks a bit grungy around the barrel, but undamaged as far as I can see. Just needs a clean. The glass was absolutely boggin' (to use a colloquialism
) when it turned up. Some gentle cleaning reveals that it isn't too bad except for a small blemish near the edge of the front element. (It looks kinda organic, but I've never had the misfortune to find fungus in a lens, so I don't actually know.) Other than that some light scuffing that I guess usually gets called 'cleaning marks'
One quick question:
On the Jupiter, the focusing ring is very loose, and not altogether smooth. Is tightening it up a little and regreasing it something that I could conceivably do myself? I only paid £0.99 plus postage for the pair, so I may be willing to have a shot
