Wooden clutches for Contax

Well, almost.

Recently it started to overlap frames near the end of rolls. Investigation shown that a film pressure roller on the back is lost, very likely after that fall accident some weeks ago.

First thought of course was to use a donor roller from Kiev-4 parts body. Unfortunately, the rollers on the modified back are too short :( A temporary solution was to insert large enough axis into it so that it stays mostly in place in the back. However I didn't have a steel rod of suitable diameter.

So I made it from wood.

Some precision pencil knife work on Estonian match. It fixed the problem, but is not a very durable solution.

Also, the camera now makes high-pitched wood-creaking noises when advancing the film. Oh well.

If anyone has a spare roller from a parts Contax or early version Kiev back, please PM me.

I think you are very inventive and I am sorry that I do not have the part you are looking for. With my cameras, I worry about such things as the lubrication drying out, or mold or fungus , I never thought I would have to deal with the worry of Termites.

Yep, I think I can find a more permanent rod, but would still need to figure a sheme preventing the roller from falling out. Also, the roller isn't correctly positioned to film.

Greyhoundman, the distance between the ends is around 43-44mm it seems.
