Travelers in Postwar Europe
Photographs by H.A.Durfee Jr., 1951-53
Prior to a distinguished medical career in Burlington VT, H.A. Durfee served in the U.S. Army – stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. In his spare time he travelled with Rolliflex and Rollicord cameras, exposing over 2000 negatives. The negatives were developed but very few were printed until 2014 when Durfee’s son Eleazer collaborated with photographer Don Ross, to create a digital archive of this body of work. The resulting exhibition, is a cross section of the work curated by Ms Janie Cohen, Director of the Robert Hull Fleming Museum at UVM.
